Actually & Basically

A deep introspection of the volatile slang trend in any language varies as a function of time. Various slang phrases persist across nations where the universally spoken English language has many such local slang phrases. India, the land that resembles multi dialects has Sanskrit as mother of its various languages. Across the various dialects in India, the sublimed tone of voice in which the language is spoken has a resemblance. Obviously, the indomitable argument of the simile owes to its mother language. Particularly if sadness or excitement or any other human inner feeling is expressed one can find this uniformity across the dialects. Another trustworthy argument is about the similar cultural sensitization among the people across the language barrier in the Indian subcontinent. Having said the fact it’s very interesting to observe the implications of such feelings carried across when Indians use their commonly spoken English language across the country. Actually and basically is such an observation across the landscape that I have observed.
“Basically I am from Delhi but I am residing in Japan Now”
“I am residing in Japan Now but Actually I am from Chennai”
I hope any one would have across such statements when they meet Indians. Surely you can find me using such phrases without self-realization. Insatiable thirst of words to fill-in the feeling of expression compels the non-native English speaking Indians to use such phrases in English. Strangely, such phrase goes fine with the usual conversation around the globe. The industrious section of the Indian community has that subdued factor on direct expression that they sublime their explanation with expressions like “Actually & Basically”
Having talked much about this phenomenon let me turn on to “Actually & Basically”. “Actually” is widely used in English conversations by people who reside in south India while “Basically” is widely used across the Northern part.
“Mein Delhi se huin abhi japan mei rehtha huin”
“Nan ippo Japan le than thangi irukken ana enga ooru madras”
These are common phrases which people use in their dialects. When they try to apply the same feeling to the English language “Actually and Basically” has found its acceptance.
The real analysis of why “Actually” is used across south and “Basically” is used across North is a complex analysis one can get a lead from a different perception when the people, tradition and living of the people across this wide geographic is introspected at a macro composition.
The northern belt has low literacy rate than the southern belt but the northern belt has provided many entrepreneurs and the southern belt has provided renounced service & scientist class. The northern belt has been under the cultural effect over the afghan invasions and its rule across it territory while the southern part had less foreign invasion until the British sneaked their rule across the subcontinent. The war of Independence was more vigor in the northern belt and recorded many incidents compared to the south where non-violence protest was much prevalent under Gandhi followers.
Inspecting the facts above to its influence on the style of speech that it would have rendered on the language usage is an amorphous analysis. However, as the humans continue to change in their evolution process, I believe dialects cannot be spared as they resemble the minds of humans.
Let’s imagine an illiterate entrepreneur into a high end business; he would simply go on the basics of general business for his decisions. Today Laloo stunned IMA scholars by taking railways to profitable public sector. His thoughts were simple and basic. He said "My mother always told me not to handle a buffalo by its tail, but always catch it by its horns. And I have used that lesson in everything in my life, including the Railways." i.e.” Wagon is the bread-earning horse of the Railways. Load it adequately. Make it run and don't stable it.” When humans have external influence on their environment, they try to fight back but the inner fear tries to hold on to the basic things. So is the state in northern belt when the civilization was under constant invasion. The war of independence against the British saw the voice against basic human rights that was prohibited. So we can infer that this root thinking could have resulted in the usage of the word “Basically” to stress basic thinking and then dwell on virtualization.
The much un-affected civilization in the southern part enjoyed a lot freedom of speech until the British period. History talks about great small rulers who were very administrative. So the fear of basic right existed very little but the fear and competitiveness among the rulers and people losing the actual identity among the herd of ideologies have created many caste and communities still prevalent in south that what is seen in north. They speak of ideological difference though they have a base origin. As a civilization that has seen many of their people in servicing; As a civilization that has grown with its same roots without much invasion; ideologies had distinguished the differences. To clue this idea a bit, Hindu temples exist in north and south but with a difference. All Hindu temples are worshiped by all Hindus in north whereas not all Hindu temples are worshiped by all sections of Hindus in south. Once again here we can strike the feeling of basic nature to the actual (ideological) nature as we move from North to south.Well, basically Indians from North and south use these phrases, actually such phrases has much roots to their inner thinking.
